Crowdstrike Causes Windows Outage: What You Need To Know

July 19th, 2024 by admin

Dear Valued Customer,

We are writing to inform you of a critical issue that has arisen with the security software "CrowdStrike" following an overnight update. This update has resulted in a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error on the majority of Windows operating systems worldwide. As a result, key systems are down, affecting operations globally. Below is a link to their statement online about this issue.

They have fixed the issue on their side, but if your machine is already affected and wont boot, that fix won't get pushed to your machine and a manual work around might need to be implemented. There is an official manual fix from CrowdStrike, VAF has tested it and can verify it has worked as a workaround.

Clients should reference CrowdStrike's publicly available blog post for the latest information related to this event. As of right now, CrowdStrike is requesting that all impacted customers utilize their support portal to garner the latest updates. There is also an available Tech Alert article with further information; however, a CrowdStrike login is required to view.
