Phalen Leadership Academy
Phalen Leadership Academy (PLA) turned to Van Ausdall and Farrar (VAF) to support their scholars ongoing learning experience during the COVID-19 outbreak. With the closing of entire school systems, many students do not have virtual access for eLearning.
The Company
Phalen Leadership Academy, a non-profit network founded in 2013, is an A-Rated, tuition-free charter school that takes pride in ensuring scholars thrive as leaders at home, in their communities, and in the world. PLA currently serves 10,000 scholars in 20 schools across the country. As COVID-19 progresses it is imperative that Phalen Leadership Academy proactively takes action for their students’ learning. That’s why Phalen Leadership Academy needed a partner with the capacity and experience like Van Ausdall & Farrar.
The Objective
The Phalen Leadership Academy is a new client of Van Ausdall & Farrar. During a strategic briefing, Phalen officials contacted Van Ausdall & Farrar with expressed concerns over the limitations of their current process related to their ability to print enough course materials for their students’ learning during the school system shutdown.
With all school systems closing down within days it was very important that Phalen took immediate action in providing the best possible assistance to their students’ learning. Phalen Leadership Academy needed to print nearly 500,000 pages of course materials over the weekend in order to get materials in the scholars’ hands before the school shut down on Monday morning.
The Strategy
VAF leveraged its secure off-site Print Fulfillment Center to print the student materials over the weekend, shipping to numerous Phalen Leadership Academy schools in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas.
The VAF staff worked around the clock to ensure that school leadership could pick-up and disseminate the materials throughout the weekend.
The Results
Phalen Leadership Academy has received all of their printed documents and were able to successfully send their scholars home with proper learning materials. The initial COVID-19 crisis did not interrupt their learning.
